“I would like to lose a few kilos”
“I would love to start running”
“I wish I could lose some belly fat”
“Walking more with my family would be good”
“I need to get stronger”

So much energy gets put into saying things like above, but reality is that there is little to no specificity with these types of statements. So it really is just “fluff”, stuff to make us sound good, look like we are a “goal” orientated but unfortunately has very little merits.
Usually we speak like this to keep ourselves away from disappointment. If we don’t actually be specific with what it is we want, myself and others that I inform aren’t any “worse off” and thus removes the opportunity for public failure.
I am sure you can agree when I say that stressing over a goal you haven’t even fully committed to is a waste of energy, although you probably agree, we all do it. This kind of talking is not fully committing to your goals. It’s just surface bullshit we say to make us feel better and to make it look like we are setting goals.
Nicole and I hear it all the time, “I want to get fitter and feel better”, “I wish I could run more”, “I wish I had more energy with the family”. Unfortunately it can be a rare occasion that someone will act accordingly to these wants and desires. Many of us just sit on the fence and stop ourselves from completely diving into the goal because of the fear of failure.
In my opinion, I think it has a lot do with someones goals and vision.
Goals need to clear, direct and specific to ensure your vision is correct.
Something will always come up, there will always be another social event, there will be days where you have to say “no”, there will always be days that it feels hard and exhausting. The problem is, if you don’t lay it on the line you may never give yourself the true opportunity to cross that line and grasp what it is that you want.
So your goals need to clear, direct and specific to ensure your vision is correct.
So what is it that you really want?
Do you really want to lose weight? If yes, how much?
Do you really want to run more? If yes, how much more?
Or is it just something you say to stay sitting on the fence…..?
Now while there is a lot to be said about the traditional approach to improving ones health and fitness (e.g no pain no gain), some basics will cross over into any modality you chose towards your results. This is to actually set a clear outcome of what it is that you want and a plan can be created backwards from here.
Setting a measurable goal removes the useless but blissful ignorance (I am sure you would have heard the saying….”Ignorance is bliss”). An easy example is like someone trying to lose weight and that same person avoiding the scales….
If you are reading this and realise you are sitting on the fence with your goals, get out a pen and paper and start with SMART – it will take you 5min.
SMART
Specific = What is the desired outcome? Details details details!
Measurable = How will measure along the way to see if you have progress?
Action = What do you need to do?
Realistic = If you make all the right actions, do you believe you can do it?
Timeframe = When does this need to happen?
Remember,
Setting a goal requires honesty, setting a goal requires extreme self awareness, setting a goal requires consistent management, setting a goal requires many opportunities to fail.
But above all else, setting a goal will allow you to know, did you get what you said you wanted?
If not… try again.

“I engaged Nathan out of pure frustration. After coming across his social media posts it was as if he was speaking directly to me. I had been weightlifting for 5 years, trying fad diet after fad diet (keto, mediterranean, caveman, intermittent fasting) and my weight hadn’t dropped but increased over time.
I was burnt out, exhausted and hungry! I believed at the time the answer was to eat less and train more. A husband, father and a full time working professional I was struggling juggling my rigorous training schedule, eating windows and family and professional commitments. The truth is no-one was getting the best version of me.
I was shocked when Nathan’s first task for me was to eat more and train less. Having tried it all on my own I simply relinquished control and did exactly what he asked of me.
I actually lost 4kg while eating double what I had and training half the amount of time.
Over the next 12 months I lost 25kg and went from 88kg to 63kg. At 31 years of age this was lighter than I was at 18! Not only did the weight come off, my fitness improved dramatically. I genuinely have a new lease on life due to Nathan’s coaching.
I’ve now been with Nathan for over 2 years. Once I achieved my dream body comp I naturally wanted to push what I was capable of. Enter Nathan’s love for all things endurance and physically demanding. My coaching relationship with Nath transformed from fat loss into performance coaching. I fell in love with trail running, 15 months ago I couldn’t run 10k.
I completed my first 50k trail running event in December last year, all with the weekly guidance and mentorship of Nathan.
The thing I love about Nathan is that no matter what issue I am facing (dietary, training, injury, mindset) he’s been there, has real world experience and provides strategies tools and the right words of wisdom to allow me to move forward. He’s personable, relatable and his training style is not as a drill sergeant rather an advocate and trusted advisor in my fitness / lifestyle goals. (He does give me a kick up the ass when required though!)
Taking control of my health & fitness has positively impacted every other area of my life.
I’ve referred several people to Nathan and they’ve all achieved the results they were after.
I’ll be a client for life and if you’re on the fence all I can say is sign up. There’s nothing to lose and a whole new life to gain.
It sounds cliche but reaching out to Nathan saved my life.“

“Participating in 2018 Oxfam was not only a daunting thought for me but a “real” goal with the possibility that I would not make it! What sort of fitness and strength did I need to compete in an event that required hiking for 100 kilometres with only 7 short breaks of no more than 30 mins (to replace bandaids!)?
I had been training with Nathan for approximately a year prior to succumbing to the thrill of taking on this challenge. I had built up overall body strength over this time when about three months out from Oxfam Nathan recommended that I start walking on the treadmill keeping my heart rate at 180 less my age (no I’m not telling you what that figure is, save to say I am “middle aged”!) for one hour three times per week gradually increasing to walk 10 kilometres each session. I did what he said eventually walking the 10 kms which took about 1 hour 40 mins twice a week then doing a 5 – 10 km hike “in the real world” once a week. My treadmill walks were nicknamed “the boring walk” and yes it was boring usually adjusting the incline to accommodate the low heart rate number. It was frustrating keeping a walk when all I wanted to do was run to “save time” – why couldn’t I just run it, surely high heart rate = faster results, right? I trusted Nathan, walked my heart out and it paid off finishing Oxfam in just over 29 hours ….. and less 3 toenails!
I have continued to do the boring walks, varying speed and/or incline in anticipation of participating in Oxfam again this year hoping to improve the time (and finishing with 10 toenails). I have also transferred the LAHR theory to bike riding and do “a boring ride” on a stationary bike in the gym assisting in mountain bike races I compete in.
LAHR WORKS – I AM PROOF!”

First and foremost, Nathan is a unique coach who truly understood my individual needs and goals. He took the time to listen attentively to my concerns and aspirations, tailoring a personalised program that perfectly aligned with my fitness level, lifestyle, and preferences. His expertise in the field of fitness and weight loss is, in my opinion, unmatched, and his ability to break down complex concepts into simple, actionable steps made the entire process much easier to grasp and follow.
What sets Nathan apart is his solid commitment to my success. He has consistently gone above and beyond to ensure I stay on track and remain motivated throughout my journey. His positive and uplifting attitude has been infectious, always providing the encouragement and accountability I needed to push through challenges and keep striving for my goals. Whether it is through regular check-ins, insightful feedback, or timely responses to my questions, he is there every step of the way.
Nathan has a comprehensive and thorough understanding of how the human body operates. His approach is expansive, encompassing not only exercise routines but also a well-guided nutrition plan that suited my lifestyle and preferences. His guidance and valuable insights helped me develop healthier habits.
Furthermore, Nathan has created an inclusive and supportive online community that has provided an invaluable source of inspiration and camaraderie, one in which I should participate more. A place where likeminded people with common goals can share their victories, challenges, and progress, fostering a sense of belonging and mutual support. Nathan has facilitated engaging discussions, provided additional resources, and organised several group events (again, something I should participate more in) that further enrich the overall experience, making the entire process even more enjoyable.
Thanks to Nath’s guidance, I have achieved amazing results. My fitness level has skyrocketed, and I have lost weight (25kgs) in a healthy and sustainable manner. The physical transformation I have observed is one thing that continues to serve as motivation everyday! One day I’m sure I’ll be equipped with the tools and knowledge to continue my fitness journey independently, empowered to maintain a healthier lifestyle long after Nathan gives me the boot again!
I genuinely recommend Nathan as an online fitness and weight loss coach. His passion, expertise, and dedication are second to none. This is also abundantly evident in the way he lives his own like! Not only does he talk the talk but more that walks the walk. If you are seeking a coach who will not only help you achieve your fitness and weight loss goals but also inspire and empower you to live a healthier and happier life, look no further. Working with Nathan has been an absolute game-changer, and I am forever grateful for the incredible impact he has had on my life.

I started nutrition coaching with Nathan around 7 months ago now. At the time I was bloated, tired, confused because I was working out so much at the gym and thought I was eating well; generally I was unhappy. My clothes didn’t fit, I stopped featuring myself in any photos and honestly felt a bit lost!
I heard about Nathan through my sister who had heard about Nathan through her colleagues and after trying everything else under the sun, saw no harm in trying something else and see where that got me.
Nathan has been very supportive, understanding, patient and most importantly realistic about what I needed to do in order to work towards my goals.
I’ve tracked food before but it was often very frustrating as I would log my food but not really get much out of it and especially not see any results. I’ve seen a steady trend since joining with Nathan as well as renewed enjoyment in running.
In the past 7 months I have lost 10% of my body far; my clothes fit better, I have more energy, the scales are moving and people have started to notice!
It’s been a slow change, but with that an understanding of nutrition and expectations. Nathan holds me to account when needed by giving me nutrition check-ins when the journey gets too overwhelming.
Thanks Nathan! I’ve still got some way to go on my journey and looking forward to seeing where this year takes me!

I would love to help you!
